We collaborated with John Smedley and the Campaign for Wool in  2021/22 to produce the limited-edition Cornwall sweater, using fibre that we sourced from tenant farmers of the Duchy of Cornwall estate and processed in our mill in Launceston. Following on from the success of this project we collaborated again in 2023 on the Duchy Wool Collection, with the limited edition, unisex Cornwall sweater, Balmoral vest and Duchy cardigan being the latest knitwear garments to be knitted with British wool, sourced from a flock of Polled Dorset sheep belonging to Duchy of Cornwall Estate farming tenants, Robynne and Will Leigh-Firbank.

At Source Fashion at Kensington Olympia in February 2025, our CEO, Colin co-presented a talk with Tim Clark, Technical & Sustainability Director of John Smedley Limited about the collaborative journey from farm to fashion to produce the limited edition, Duchy Wool Collection, in association with Campaign for Wool. You can see the recording of the talk on Youtube here: A collaborative journey from farm to fashion – Source Fashion Feb 2025

Nancy Nicholson is a weaver and heritage textile artist working predominantly in wool and creating flat-weave, weft-faced rugs and tapestries as made-to-order designs and bespoke commissions for interior and architectural designers and private clients. She also sells her own range of rug yarn. We provided a range of processing services including Sorting, Scouring, Spinning and Finishing for Nancy, transforming her Cumbrian raw fleece into beautiful yarn, which was oiled on cone, ready for weaving. You can read the case study here.

We were asked to produce a unique yarn from “The King’s Clip” – the fleeces of three flocks of sheep kept at Dumfries House, for a special oversized handknit scarf, part of the NET-A-PORTER for The King’s Foundation capsule collection. The 13-piece, ready to wear, capsule collection has been designed by six fashion graduates of The Modern Artisan training programme at The King’s Foundation headquarters at Dumfries House in Ayrshire, Scotland.

With Bristol Weaving Mill we have established a collective enterprise offering customers an opportunity to produce very small quantities of sustainable and eco-friendly woven blankets using their own fibre and our Flocked Off mill waste. You can find out more here.

We have supplied our wool processing services to Heckfield Place, a luxury five-star Georgian hotel, set in Hampshire. We sourced some black fibre from our mill stock and added it to their own light-mixed wool to achieve a grey shade, producing can coiled rovings to produce felt for their inhouse seamstress to create Christmas stockings and inserts for mini bars in the guest rooms.

The Curatorial team at Tate Modern approached us in 2022 wishing to source some additional wool for an art installation in their Turbine Hall. We were only too pleased to help. You can read the full story here.
