Arranging Courier Services On Your Behalf
We can arrange collection of your fibre sacks and return of your completed order for you, using our preferred supplier, DX Delivery Service. Please note we accept no responsibility for the fibre/yarn during transit (only whilst it is at the mill). If you wish to take out additional insurance please let us know at the time of placing your order, as additional charges will apply.
Our Charges
For standard UK deliveries/collections we will charge £41.03 (plus VAT) per incoming sack and £39.09 per outgoing sack/box (plus VAT). There are surcharges for addresses in the Highlands and Islands
and for pallets. We will include the carriage out charges on the final invoice, unless advised otherwise.
Delivering/Collecting Your Own Fibre/Yarn
Personal delivery and collection of your fleece/yarn may be the most economical way for you. We ask that you deliver your sacks to the mill only when we have notified you via our waiting list that we are ready to process your order. Due to limited space at the mill, you may incur an onsite storage charge for delivering early.
Fibre Sacks
We can send you a supply of our sacks in the post or you can collect them from the office, if you prefer. We will issue an invoice with a small charge per sack plus postage and this will be refunded and will appear on your set up invoice when the filled sacks are returned ready for fibre processing – this helps reduce wastage and encourages the return of the sacks.
Please consider using vacuum packed sacks when preparing your fibre to send to us. The sacks take up less space in the mill, shipping will be cheaper and they can be returned to you to reuse.
Important Information:
You need to be available on the day of collection day as carriers do not like picking up unattended packages. Please also ensure you read all the instructions which come with our sacks and ensure that the carrier puts any barcode sticker on the plastic bag sealing tag to make it easier to trace them.
When signing for a delivery make a note on the slip to say that the goods are ‘accepted, but not checked’. This is in case of damage during transit. Complaints will not be accepted unless you take this precaution. You should also note that we are not able to accept any complaints made more than one month from delivery of your order.
For overseas customers, or those in the Highlands and Islands, the standard carriage charges are very high, so it is usually best to use our sacks and simply post your fleece to us.
As well as our address, NFC sacks should include the wording ‘Products of animal origin, not for human consumption’ on the outside. If you post sacks to us, to confirm that the fleece is part of a commercial transaction, you need to include your Order Form as well as sending a scanned copy by email to us. If you have any questions about this process please email us.
From 2012, UK legislation requires all sheep, goat and alpaca fleece to be identified as Category 3 Hazardous Waste, so those that create, store or transport it need licenses. If in doubt contact your local Animal Welfare department.
